Capital Improvement

Capital improvement planning identifies and prioritizes investments for local infrastructure such as utilities, sidewalks, bikeways, schools, transit capital, and locally funded roads. Capital improvement planning efforts occur at the county and local level, and collaboration with the appropriate agencies can ensure transportation investment decisions are coordinated with local investments. During long range and corridor planning, capital improvement plans can inform strategies and potential solutions as well as help stretch limited funding through partnering to meet common needs and goals.

The Decision Guide provides detailed information on the individual Key Decisions where capital improvement planning should be considered. Hover over the highlighted Key Decisions to understand the specific relationship of capital improvement to the decision. Click on any highlighted Key Decision for more information about questions, data, and relationships that support this interface. Key Decisions that are greyed-out have no specific relevance to the individual application or topic area but are still accessible from this graphic.

Application Roles Example

The role of each partner changes from one Key Decision to another. Understanding partner roles and how they change throughout the process is essential to successful collaboration. The Decision Guide describes the four possible roles for partners at each Key Decision:
