Director, Office of Infrastructure R&D

Since August 2017, Dr. Nehme has served as the Team Leader for the Long-Term Infrastructure Performance team in the Office of Infrastructure Research and Development. In this position, he provides leadership to technical research staff and provides direction and oversight for the Long-Term Pavement Performance and the Long-Term Bridge Performance Programs. He also oversees the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) Coatings and Corrosion laboratory.

Prior to joining FHWA, Dr. Nehme held various leadership positions at the Arizona Department of Transportation: Director of Performance Management and Research, State Asset Management Engineer, and State Bridge Engineer. He was a primary voting member of the American Association of Highway and Transportation Officials Committee of Bridges and Structures for over 10 years and of the Research Advisory Committee for three years. He also worked briefly in the private industry as a consultant and was an Adjunct Professor at Northern Arizona University.

Dr. Nehme holds a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, a master's degree in Structural Engineering, and a Ph.D. in Structure Mechanics from the University of New Mexico. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Arizona.
