Ted Burch was named the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) Michigan Division Administrator (DA) in February 2022. Ted leads a diverse staff of transportation professionals responsible for the stewardship and oversight of Michigan\\\'s $1.4 billion Federal-aid highway program to State and Local recipients in Michigan.

Prior to being named DA, Ted served as the MI Deputy Division Administrator for 13 years responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Michigan Division Office, leading strategic risk and program management initiatives, and developing critical relationships with external partners to strengthen delivery of the Federal-aid Highway Program (FAHP). Ted began his FHWA career in 1988 as a Civil Engineer in the Highway Engineer Training Program (HETP). Upon graduation from the HETP, he served as the Assistant Division Bridge Engineer in the Louisiana Division before becoming the Georgia Division Bridge Engineer in 1995. In 1999, Ted began serving as the Field Operations Team Leader in the Montana Division leading a team of Area Engineers in delivering the Federal-aid program state-wide. He played a key role in the development and delivery of the US-93 project across the Flathead Indian Reservation in western, Montana. Ted also served as the Montana Division Program Development Team Leader, where he led the administration of the transportation planning, environment, realty, safety, materials, and bridge programs.

Ted holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from Michigan Technological University, a Master of Engineering (Structures) from Tulane University, and is a licensed professional engineer in Louisiana.
