The present 1860 courthouse resembles a two story Greek Revival peripteral style plantation house. Its molded cupola towers over much of the townscape, nothing else of the original downtown survives, due in part to fires occurring in 1876 and 1889. Pictured is the historic courthouse that was built in 1860.
