This picture shows visitors on several paths leading up to the Castillo in the distance. One path leads along the waterfront. There is a strip of rubble rip-rap in the water the runs parallel to the bulkhead helping to protect the structure and the small green courtyards that surround the Castillo. This picture helps the viewer better understand the strategic position of this Spanish Fort along the banks of the Matanzas River.
