This picture reflects an early morning sunrise over the marshes that adjoin the byway. In the foreground is an orange kayak heading out for the morning. The surrounding mangroves help deaden the waves making the water crystal clear and dead calm. While much of the sky is blue, clouds off in the distance have a yellowish orange tinge. While this picture shows today's byway traveler in a recreational mode. These waters were also plied by the English and Spanish conquistadors hundreds of years.
