Moose Path Trail

The Great North Woods Region is true wilderness. You ll spot moose, deer, and other wildlife through the trees while you re hiking and camping--at just about any time--even while you re driving along the route. Everything about this route shows that this area is the outdoor enthusiast s paradise. For one, Pontook Reservoir is teeming with wildlife to see while you re negotiating its class III rapids. These rapids are the Androscoggin s most challenging, making Pontook a favorite among canoeists, kayakers, and rafters. These is also the Dixville Notch State Park (the place You ll most likely spot a moose) and many other state parks, where You ll find excellent camping, fishing, hiking, and waterfalls (at Dixville State Park). The Brown Pulp and Paper Company House Museum focuses on Working Forest exhibits, lectures, demonstrations, heritage walks, occasional mill tours, and a full-scale replica of a circa 1900 logging camp. The area even includes a city, Berlin, that is known as the city that trees built.
