Letter from our Outgoing CEO

We're all in the business of building and rebuilding highways. But how do we build and rebuild the best highway construction workforce for today and tomorrow? We train. We certify. We set national standards. And we make it easy for managers to access the courses that produce highly qualified, highly motivated employees. The TCCC is a partnership between the FHWA, State Departments of Transportation and the highway transportation industry to help do just that. It is building and maintaining a core curriculum for the entire highway workforce, and making it readily available to all.

Pete Rahn, Former MODOT Director and TCCC CEO

What is TCCC?

TCCC is a partnership between the Federal Highway Administration, State Departments of Transportation and the highway transportation industry to help train and certify the construction and maintenance workforce, and set national standards. Our mission is to develop and maintain a national curriculum for various transportation disciplines, identify training and certification requirements, and coordinate/facilitate training efforts.

Rebuilding the highway construction task force is an industry priority as agencies across the country face a serious shortage of trained and experienced personnel resulting from attrition and an aging workforce. At the same time cutting-edge construction and system preservation technologies demand new skills and knowledgeable construction personnel. Consequently, efforts to train and certify highway construction personnel have intensified in recent years. The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) has taken a pro-active role in this effort. In order to streamline the process and avoid duplication of efforts, the Transportation Curriculum Coordination Council (TCCC) was formed in September of 2000.
