Marrero, Ivan

Division Administrator UTAH

On January 10, 2014, Ivan Marrero became the Division Administrator (DA) for the Federal Highway Administration's Utah Division.  As the DA he oversees the Division's day to day operations and its mission to administer and deliver Utah's $330 million Federal-aid program.

Ivan joined the HETP in 1991 and has served many assignments in his career with FHWA.  Early in his career he served as the Transportation and Pavements Engineer for the Oregon Division working with the state and the pavement industry to implement Superpave, Pavement Management Systems, and SHRP technologies. Later he served as a Geotechnical Specialist for the Resource Center.  That led to his next assignment as Team Leader for the Maryland Division's Field Operations Team and as the Project Engineer for the Maryland portion of the Woodrow Wilson Memorial Bridge Replacement Project which at the time was the second largest transportation project in the nation. Most recently, he served as Assistant Division Administrator in the Oklahoma Division.

He earned a Masters of Science degree in Geotechnical Engineering from Oregon State University and a Bachelors of Science degree in Civil Engineering from The Florida State University.  He is a Registered Professional Engineer in Oklahoma, Oregon and Maryland.

Mr. Marrero enjoys cycling and playing golf and, since moving to Utah, snowboarding; but most importantly, spending time with his wife and two sons.
