Al Alonzi

Division Administrator, FHWA-Texas Division

 

 

Al Alonzi was named the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) Texas Division Administrator in July 2014.  As a key member of the Agency leadership team, Al exercises executive direction over the $4 billion Federal-aid apportionment to the state of Texas, one of the largest and most complex Federal-aid programs in the Nation.  As Division Administrator, he leads a multidisciplinary staff of 45 professionals in Austin to provide stewardship, oversight and guidance to state and local funding recipients to continuously improve mobility in Texas. 

 

Before this appointment, Mr. Alonzi served as the Deputy Division Administrator in the FHWA Texas Division Office.  As Deputy, he led the day-to-day operations of the office, staff development, strategic change implementation, and the formation of critical partnerships to continuously improve the delivery of the Federal-aid Highway Program (FAHP).  Al began his federal career in 1990, joining the FHWA Highway Engineer Training Program.  Since then, he has served FHWA in multiple capacities and organizational units across the United States, including Washington, DC Headquarters.  During FY2020, Al served as Acting Director of Field Services-mid America.  In this role, he provided executive oversight and corporate leadership to the delivery of the FAHP in 13 Division Offices, with a collective program size of $13 billion and a staff of 285 employees.
